and wasn't there a high-up, a very high-up in the UK's intelligence services (MI5/MI6) who went on record as being a very serious Dead Head (even though I thought that people like that were supposed to be low-profile/anonymous) ???

He may even have had something to do with a Dead (lyric) web-site ? (no, I'm not getting confused with David Dodds, this chap was very UK).

Come on some of you senior Forumites who probably know who I'm talking about. Maybe someone with a personal tragedy in his past (now I am grasping at straws), like the loss of a partner, who then focused his life around the Dead (as well as his job) ?

Heavens to murgatroyd. The revolution really will not be televised.

Cue the Gil Scott Heron (revised California edition ... this is cool. Put on full screen, full audio and headphones):

Then between the two of you, you've got good taste :-)

I guess it's a mash-up or whatever that's called.

"Then between the two of you, you've got good taste"

Photobucket

Although I think it is a generational thing. She has pretty good taste overall. She grew up listening to Grateful Dead and introduced me to REM. I tend to overlook her "infatuation" with Mudhoney and The Dead Kennedys much as she dismisses my "obsession" with "THe Bosstown Sound".

Wow. I'm impressed.

"You might not expect her recently acquired taste for the Grateful Dead's Standing on the Moon. "Have you ever listened to it? I like it very much. My son taught me to like it. And Bob Marley. Well, I do like 'Get up, Stand up for your rights'. We need more music like that." So the festival has brought her Lee Scratch Perry, one of Bob Marley's mentors."

"I see all of Southeast Asia... I can see El Salvador."

Wow. That gives a whole new perspective on SOTM.

And this is very promising news in my campaign to bring Furthur to Asia! (Granted, it's not much of a campaign, since it's just me occasionally whining on the forum, but hey, I'll take what I can get.)

Here's a really nice Standing on the Moon for you, Aung San Suu Kyi ... (Hmmm, what should her forum name be?)
